External Workshops, Events & Support

At William Byrd we know that our parents/carers sometimes need advice on how they can support their child with Special Educational Needs, or any other concerns that they may have regarding their child’s development.

As a school we will always try our best to provide support and advice to our parents/carers, but we appreciate that there are more experienced and qualified professionals that you can access.

This is where we hope this information helps.

Keep checking this page regularly for updated information regarding events and workshops occurring within school and the local community, which you may find useful and beneficial for you and your child.

Dear Parents and Carers

Opportunity for asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants to take our Introduction to Community Interpreting course, Oct 2024

This is a 4 workshop course, over 4 weeks in UB7.  It is free for asylum seekers.   There is a small charge for others.  If you have someone who really cannot afford any course fee at all please let us know and we'll sort something out.

We have an 'in person' information and "Taster" session on Thurs 26 Sept from 9:15am registration, workshop 9:30am – 1pm (includes Q&A time).   After that you are very welcome to stay on and join the community lunch we have on that day, and talk to people from the college and other professionals from organisations who are there to talk to asylum seekers and refugees about their services.

The "Introduction to Community Interpreting" course starts properly on Thurs 3 Oct at 9:15am - 1pm, then 10, 17, 24 (also followed by a lunch).

Sorry we cannot pay any fares.
This is in person (face to face) only.
If you attend all the workshops on time and complete 'homework' they will receive a Certificate of Successful Completion.

All details are linked below.

If you are interested, please Whatsapp (if possible) on 07983 419 388 or email on interpreting@reap.org.uk to book a place or ask any questions.
