Young Carers Action Day

On the 12th March we celebrated Young Carers Action Day. This year’s theme is "Give Me A Break", focusing on the importance of rest and respite for young carers.
Young carers have so much responsibility on their shoulders that they often have little time for themselves. They need time out from their caring responsibilities to rest, recharge and focus on themselves – be it for a hobby, or just spending time with friends, like other people their age.
We recognise that Young Carers might need more support at school. Their responsibilities at home can mean they often feel overwhelmed at having to juggle their caring responsibilities with their schoolwork.
The young carers came together for a relaxing afternoon watching a film and eating pizza. We also held an assembly to spread awareness of the role of a young carer.
Please speak to Mrs Houston if you think your child might be a young carer elsa@williambyrd.school
