On Thursday 14th March, we celebrated young carer action day with our young carer children. This year's theme is fair futures for young carers.
We held a delightful Mother's Day Spa Day at our nursery. Our little ones enjoyed pampering their mums with makeup, nail art, and hairstyling. The children were thrilled to serenade their mothers with beautiful songs and they also took part in special Mothers Day activities.
Year 1 expressed gratitude to their mums on Mother's Day by crafting beautiful cards for them!
In Year 1 we have been studying about animals, including humans. As a part of this, we have been researching our school's pet, guinea pigs.
Every year, we celebrate World Book Day in our own special way!
Year 1 went on a trip to the woods. We went to find the Gruffalo. We travelled through the woods and we found some moss, we walked through some squelchy mud and puddles.
We ended the term with our Fairy Tale Funday on Friday 9 February.
It was wonderful to see so many parents/carers in our Nursery today having some magical fairy tale fun!
This week we celebrated Children's Mental Health Week. This year's theme is 'My Voice Matters'.
On Wednesday 7 February, Year 5 students from William Byrd and Belmore, and Year 7 students from Barnhill came together for the annual MLP poetry slam. All of the children in Year 5 were supported in writing a poem based on the theme, 'Proud to be Me'. We heard poems about pride in our religions, race, bodies, appearance, personality and more. It was so beautiful to celebrate our differences through this art form.
In Year 2, we had the chance to meet the new Guinea pigs. Our Science lessons have been all about animals, including humans. We learned about what animals need to survive, how they change as they grow, how to compare animals and their offspring, and the different lifecycles of animals.
We are thrilled to share that the Spring Spelling Bee at William Byrd was a great success this year.
