Once again this year each class decorated their very own Christmas hoop which have been displayed in our school hall for everyone to admire.

Children in Need at William Byrd was another great success this year. Children and staff were asked to dress up in their spots or something yellow and bring in £1 to donate to the cause.
Children in Need at William Byrd was another great success this year. Children and staff were asked to dress up in their spots or something yellow and bring in £1 to donate to the cause. Everyone looked fantastic in their Pudsey onesies, T-shirts, headbands and spots.
Throughout the day children across the school enjoyed doing various Pudsey related activities and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We manage to raise £472.00!

This week William Byrd joined schools across Britain to embrace the message of ‘One Kind Word’, the theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week campaign created by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) which works to raise awareness of bullying and bring lasting change to children’s lives.
On Monday 15th November, we had the MLP Poetry Slam at Barnhill Community High School where schools from across the Trust participated in a poetry competition based on the theme of Remembrance judged by our local MP, John McDonnell.
Remembrance Day on 11th November is always one of the most important dates of the year for the school as we remember the people who have died in wars around the world.
To celebrate Diwali this year we invited our children and staff to come to school in their Diwali/party clothes.
We were very excited and fortunate to secure a session with the Ark Farm in school. The visit supported our Year 2 children in their current work for Science and Writing where they are learning about hibernation.
Our Head and Deputy Head students went to deliver our Harvest Festival food donations to our local foodbank of Yiewsley and West Drayton.
As part of the Year 2 Science Curriculum - Life cycles - Year 2 hatched chicks and the children enjoyed watching and learning the process involved in the chicks hatching from their eggs.
On Friday 15th October William Byrd wore yellow to spread awareness to show young people they're not alone in their mental illness for World Mental Awareness Day #HelloYellow.
On Thursday 14th October our Year 5 children had a fantastic educational trip to the Science Museum. Despite the long journey there and back, the children had a great day, learning about voyages into space as well as other topic areas.
Black History Month is marked annually in October. It recognises and values the inspirational individuals and events that have shaped the black generation. During Black History Month, we remember and celebrate the important people from the past and also those who contribute to and help our society today.
