Welcome to our new Writing Challenge page!
We are going to be doing a whole school writing challenge. Watch the video for each challenge and listen to Miss Naulls talk about what you have to do.
The best piece of writing in each year group will get 50 Dojos and receive a special certificate!

Reception
It’s a sunny day and you’ve taken a trip to the zoo! Can you draw a picture of yourself talking to an animal? What might you say to the animal? What do you think it would say back? Can you write a sentence in speech bubbles to show the conversation? E-mail your work to eyfs@williambyrd.school
Year 1 & Year 2
Oh no, you’ve headed downstairs to get a midnight snack from the fridge and you’ve found an animal in there! What animal is it? What are they doing? Can you draw a picture of the animal in the fridge and write 5 sentences (in the style of a poem) about it? E-mail your work to year1@williambyrd.school or year2@williambyrd.school
Year 3 & 4
It’s a sunny day and you’ve taken a trip to the zoo! To your surprise, an animal starts talking to you. What might you say to the animal? What do you think it would say back? Write a poem about this encounter and draw a picture to go with it. E-mail your work to year3@williambyrd.school or year4@williambyrd.school
Year 5 & 6

Reception, Year 1, Year 2 & Year 3
Our book taught us about generosity and gratitude, and we have a lot to be thankful for! The Heathrow Rangers have delivered our home learning packs, breakfast and even gave us all of the Cadbury Crème Eggs! Our challenge this week is use gratitude to create a thank you card for the Heathrow Rangers. Can you create a beautiful and colourful card with a nice message inside? The message can be a letter, a poem, a story or whatever feels right to you! You can leave the card outside for them to pick up on 9th or 10th of June when they deliver the next packs! Don’t forget to send a photo to your year group so we can post it on the website: eyfs@williambyrd.school year1@williambyrd.school year2@williambyrd.school year3@williambyrd.school
